THE DOUGIE CRAWFORD RACE

                                                             DOUGIE RACING

The Dougie Crawford Race has taken place over the last few years at Bearsden Ski Club and with each year it has become more and more popular.

THE RACE

One of the reason this race attracts so many entrees is due to all funds that are raised are put towards the training of Dougie for competing worldwide in all  major competitions. The reason that funds need to be raised is owing to the fact that snow sports are so underfunded by Government bodies also sporting council's in the UK.

There are also so many entries because the race is opened to everyone even those who have never raced before and the prizes are distributed equally, which makes it a really fun day for all. Racers can compete in one, two or three races. The first race is the individuals, the next group are groups of three and the last one has six members in each team ranging with the young kids, older kids, adults, boys and girls.

Throughout the day raffle tickets are sold with fabulous prizes to be won and these tickets are picked after the prize giving. Also when the race's are taken place for those not taking part can buy tombola tickets giving parents the chance to win a range of gifts from.

Dougie and his lovely wife Chemmy are happy to sign autographs and have photos taken with the skiers and their families who are there to support them on the day. They are a lovely couple that are at the ski club all day helping out with anything that needs done including giving out the prizes later on to the winners of the races.

Last year Dougie  retired from racing due to injury but the race still went ahead with all funds raised supporting Bearsden race section, to be given out as grants for the new talent coming through the ranks.
Dougie and Chemmy still took time out of their busy schedules to give advice to all those who are keen to proceed and take their skiing further and signed autographs they had photos taken with the members, sold raffle tickets and gave out prizes.

This is a fantastic day and the club are so lucky to have the backing of Dougie and Chemmy bringing in much support for the ski club.
